On the Design Sponge blog today they showcased some really great ways to store/display books.  It it making me want to redo my bookshelves -- maybe I should try organizing them by color?!

Being that you are also book lovers you should check out the post here.

Score!

The girls were ecstatic to find this treasure awaiting them this morning. They couldn't believe I got this from book club, and kept wanting to know who shot the farthest and got the most points. "Did Kara even shoot it?" (Maybe because you're pregnant, they didn't think you should be acting like a warrior).

Carly to Macy: You be the girl. The girl Indians stay home and cook and clean the boys' clothes. I get to go out and go hunting. I can be the boy because back then, the boys had long hair. They didn't have scissors back then to cut their hair, and they thought it looked nicer.

They bring me drinks from the lake and cobs of corn as I type.

Carly: Mom, you can't be the Mom because back then, they didn't have computers.

I'm being called for a feast, so I'll sign off now. Thanks for the yummy food, great discussion, and fun time, as always!

I've got Heidi's copy of 'The Hunger Games'. I'm finished so if anyone needs a copy to read, let me know. I really enjoyed the story so I'm looking forward to next meeting.

Myles Meyer

It looks like we have a new author to invite to our next discussion, ladies. In honor of New Moon coming out this weekend, BYU sponsored a "try to write as cheesy as Stephanie Meyers" contest. With over 150 entries, there were 3 winners, 1 honorable mention and 3 fav. lines.

For date night, Myles and I came up with a submission. His last line was one of the 3 favorites!

The moment our eyes met, my heart skipped a beat like a drunk drummer. I relished the shivers sent down my spine, like atoms of mercury racing for the thermometer’s bulb. His chilling rendition of “Ice, Ice, baby” had pierced me with its frigid beauty. His song froze on his lips; silence reigned. My mind was spinning like Disney on Ice. How would he react to my daring intrusion into his hidden world? But when, at last, I heard him whisper my name, his effervescent charm melted my trepidation like the spring thaw after a cruel winter.

Free Books

Kids in 1st grade and up can record books they've read and then get a free one at Barnes and Noble. (I'm not sure who was more excited about this, me or Robyn)! You can pick up a sheet at the store or maybe print one from online. Every kid can earn up to 2 books this summer!

Some Light Reading, Heavy Boots

One Suitable Boy is one suitable workout. (If you've checked it out, you'll know what I mean). I no longer have to feel bad about not exercising, if I just take it with me where ever I go. Whenever people come over and see it on the coffee table, Robyn has them estimate the # of pages. (Maybe we should start offering a prize for the closest guess).

Don't worry; it's worth the lugging. Just thought I'd give you heads up, so you could start reading! (Although, if too many of you request it from the library, I won't be able to renew it when my 3 wks. runs out!)

Also, the other day, I got an unusual phone call.
Caller: I know this is a long shot, but I'm looking for a Lonnie Watson. Do you happen to know him?
I immediately thought of Oskar, was sad I couldn't help him, and wished him good luck.

It is time for us to choose books for the next six months. We will vote next month on books that are suggested here on the blog. Please post 2-3 books you would like to read as a group.

As inspiration you should check out this site with photos of the most beautiful libraries in the world. Oh I would love to go on a library tour!!

Let's go!

Running Moms

I know some of you are runners, so I thought I'd let you know about a new blog my sis-in-law started to support moms. I think you'll get a kick out of my comment, as I am not in the runners' club.

Where is everyone?? Someone post or I'll have to!

We can all post, right??? Let's get some fun conversation going on this blog you guys!

And just a reminder about book club this week. It's at my house (Shauna's) this Thursday the 9th at 7:00 pm. I hope to see you all there. I'll send out a reminder email pretty quick.

Now, a recipe.

This is the roasted garlic aioli I make. I've been promising I'd post it for a while now.

1 garlic bulb
1 T olive oil
1/4 cup eggs
1 jar marinated artichoke
hearts (about 1/4 c)
juice of one lemon
1 T dijon mustard
salt to taste (I always use sea salt)
freshly ground pepper to taste
1/2 c canola or safflower oil
1/4 c. olive oil

side note: I skip the eggs and oils (except the 1 T. olive oil) and use 1 c. mayonaisse.

Preheat oven to 400. Cut off pointed end of garlic; place garlic on a piece of foil, and drizzle with 1 T oil. Wrap tightly, and roast at 400 for about 45 minutes or until soft. Remove from oven, and let cool; squeeze pulp from garlic cloves. Place roasted garlic in a blender or food processor (I use a stick blender very haphazardly) with egg and next 5 ingredents, and process, adding canola oil and 1/4 c. olive oil in a slow, steady stream, until mixture thickens. Again, I use the mayo instead. Refrigerate in an airtight container up to 4 days.

You can serve this with any vegetable but I love it with fingerling or small red potatoes.
